Reflection on Technology in Education Class

At the beginning of this class, I walked in thinking I was pretty tech savvy and it would be boring because I already knew most things having to deal with computers.  Wow! I was super wrong.  I am leaving this class feeling like I have learned so much.  I always joke about my husband because he doesn't know how to attach something to an email, but in this class, I was him. Haha!  I had no clue Google did so many things and how much I can incorporate them into my everyday life as well as teacher life.

Google Classroom was a real favorite of mine, especially incorporating the mood check in form.  I love this idea and think it will definitely make an impact on students.  I think if this was around when I was in school, a lot more kids would have said something if they were being bullied or having a rough time at school or home.

Another favorite of mine was Google Sites.  I love the idea of our portfolio and presenting in our job search.  This will really showcase our skills a lot easier than trying to explain what we can do just by talking.

I was always super afraid of Twitter, I just assumed I would not really get any use out of it and who cares what I have to say in 280 characters or less. I have learned it is a valuable tool to learn from other teachers as well as engage with people you may never meet in real life.  So far, with Twitter, I was able to reach out and get a lot of help for our final project using WeVideo.

Overall, I am so grateful for this class.  I feel a lot more prepared now for the job search.  That was a big worry of mine and I am glad we got some insight into what a school is looking for.    I know a big complaint about the education program I hear is students not feeling prepared for the job based on their classes.  This is not the case for Technology in Education.
