Halloween Stem Activities

I recently came across an article for teachers on STEM activities to do during the Halloween season in school.  I loved these ideas, kids get to do something fun for the holiday, but it is also educational and they probably won't notice or think it's just another boring lesson.  This article listed 31 activities for every day of the month.  This might not be possible for all classrooms, but I think it would be a neat idea as a special Halloween treat once a week maybe.  I have already tested out a few of these with my soon to be three year old.  He is obsessed with Halloween and these were perfect.

We definitely tried out the glow in the dark slime, he doesn't get the science part just yet, but he loved making something with me and playing with something he said was gross. Haha!

We also tried out the screaming ghost balloon.  He loved this one, it was super fast to do and you only needed two supplies.

Even though I do not have an elementary aged child, this list was full of really fun stuff.  I am including the article at the top for any current teachers or parents that need some Halloween activities for their kiddos!

  1. Such a fun way to engage young ones in the Halloween season and science. I think my kids at home and work would love these! I think there's definitely something to be said about having kids work hands on while learning and in groups. Definitely how some kids learn best! Thanks for sharing!

  2. That's so cool you got to do these things with your son! I'm sure it was a lot of fun for both of you, and he'd be a valuable resource to test classroom ideas for the future. I've made slime in the past before during school, and I didn't even think about how much fun it would be to do during Halloween like you said. What color slime did he go with?

    1. That's true! I'll have to keep that in mind to test out stuff on him first. He definitely went with green!
